The company was established on July 15, 1953.

What is the origin of your company name?

The forerunner of Fuji Heavy Industries was Nakajima Aircraft Company, established by Chikuhei Nakajima. Nakajima was extremely proud of Mount Fuji, the most beloved symbol of our country Japan, and crowned his company's new title with the name Fuji. Mount Fuji is the highest and most beautiful mountain peak in Japan and in old kanji the characters for Mount Fuji meant a "unique mountain unlike any other." Our company aims to be as unparalleled and magnificent as the mountain, and develop products that will reach the hearts of people around the globe.

Fuji Heavy Industries is a leading manufacturer of transportation-related products in Japan comprised of four business segments: the Subaru brand automotive section, aerospace, industrial products and eco technologies.
