In our “Prominence 2020” mid-term management vision announced in 2014, we set a corporate vision for 2020 to become “a high-quality company that is not big in size but has distinctive strength” under our management philosophy of aiming to be a compelling company with a strong market presence built upon its customer-first principle. To achieve this goal, we are focusing on two initiatives: “enhancing the Subaru brand” and “building a strong business structure.”
In 2017, we will change our company name to Subaru Corporation to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1917 founding of the Aircraft Research Laboratory (later to become Nakajima Aircraft Co., Ltd.), to which our company traces its origins. With the new company name, we will further accelerate our efforts to enhance the Subaru brand, consolidate the strengths of all our employees under the single Subaru name and achieve even greater growth for Subaru as a distinctive global brand in the automotive and aerospace industries.
With the aim of having a prominent presence in the minds of customers, Subaru will continue to enhance its engineering excellence and unmatched appeal. We will seek to achieve sustainable growth by offering the value of “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind” to customers worldwide, while fulfilling our responsibilities as a corporate citizen and fostering close relationships with local communities around the world.
