FHI to Exhibit at the Farnborough International Airshow

- Exhibition Theme: A Global Key Player Continuously Creating New Value -

Tokyo, July 1, 2016 – Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI),today announced that the company, as a member of the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC), will participate in the Farnborough International Airshow to be held at Farnborough Airport in the UK from July 11 through 17. The theme of the exhibition will be “A Global Key Player Continuously Creating New Value,” and displays will include scale models and exhibition panels.

Outline of Main Exhibits Two conceptual 1/10 scale models of the latest developments of the UH-X / 412EPI helicopter On display will be two conceptual models showing the next-generation utility helicopter (UH-X) that FHI is currently developing for the Japan Ministry of Defense in a joint international project with the US Company Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. and the advanced variant of the 412EPI helicopter, which provides the platform for the UH-X. Through improvements such as enhanced run-dry capability, transmission output, and airframe durability, FHI aims to further hone the reputation for safety and reliability established by the existing UH-1 series and develop aircraft that can be marketed for use in various settings around the world.

1/10 scale skeleton model of the Boeing 787 center wing box A skeleton model of the Boeing 787 center wing box designed and manufactured by FHI using carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) will be on display. Responsibility for developing complex center wing box interfaces, which carry load from both wings and fuselage, for the Boeing 777, 787, and 777X is providing FHI with a pool of specialized knowledge and expertise on center wing boxes that will drive further growth for the company.

Conceptual 1/5 scale model of unmanned helicopter In the unmanned aircraft systems field, FHI will display a conceptual scale model of its latest unmanned helicopter. Building on a track record of unmanned helicopter development spanning more than 30 years, FHI brings to the market an all-weather unmanned helicopter with endurance of six hours, and looks forward to hearing views on it from a wide range of other industries.
